This unit plan on Plate Tectonics will help students understand the evolution of plate tectonics.
Students will be introduced to plate tectonics through a series of detailed powerpoint presentations.
Using their aquired knowledge, they will be able to conclude that evidence is needed to prove a theory. They will see how many peole have had ideas, but didn't have evidence to support their claims. They will also understand how previous theories formed the basis of others through technological advancements. Computerized and hands-on activities will be used to enhance the understanding of plate movement.
Once students have been introduced to plate tectonics, lessons will be focused on the following concepts:
-The Earth's structure
-Rock cycle
-Fossils
-Continental drift theory
-Plate boundaries
-Convection and plate tectonics-
-Earth's Activity
-Future?
